Nusa Lembongan is an Indonesian island located southeast of Bali. It is one of three islands that comprise the Nusa Penida area, the most well-known of which are Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan (together known as the “Nusa Islands”). This group of islands is part of the Lesser Sunda Islands.

Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan are separated by a narrow estuarine waterway that is difficult to travel at low tide. Nusa Lembongan has no permanent waterways. A suspension bridge connects Nusa Lembongan with Nusa Ceningan, however it only allows foot and motorcycle traffic.

On the island, there are three main communities. The tourist-based industry and activities on the island are concentrated in Jungut Batu and Mushroom Bay, whereas Lembongan Village is home to the majority of the permanent local population.

Regular direct speed-boat services, primarily from the east-coast Bali resort town of Sanur, connect to Nusa Lembongan. The crossing takes around 30 minutes, and services run at regular intervals during the day. Larger cargo ships leave the Bali port town of Padang Bai on a daily basis.

There are extremely few cars on the island. Due to the island’s small size, the primary modes of transit are scooters and foot.
